Color Review Guidelines

Accurate remote review depends not only on the quality of the video stream, but also on the display and viewing environment. Following the recommendations below will help keep the image you see as close as possible to the image monitored in the grading suite.

Accessing the Review

The colorist will provide a private, password-protected review link. All review links are protected to help ensure the confidentiality of your project.

Please watch the video in full-screen mode. Avoid evaluating color through screen sharing, messenger previews, or other applications that may alter or reduce image quality.

Resolution and Image Quality

HD monitoring and review at 1920 × 1080 are suitable for evaluating overall color, contrast, exposure, shot matching, and creative intent.

Final approval of fine image texture — including film grain, sharpness, noise reduction, blur, halation, and other subtle details — should be performed using a UHD 3840 × 2160 review file whenever these characteristics are critical.

Please keep in mind that while we provide a high-quality streaming workflow, compression is still present.

Recommended Displays

For the most consistent remote color review, we recommend the following devices:

  • Apple iPad Pro with a Liquid Retina XDR or Ultra Retina XDR display, with Reference Mode enabled
  • Apple MacBook Pro with a Liquid Retina XDR display, using the appropriate video reference preset

Display Settings

Before starting the review:

  • Disable True Tone, Night Shift, automatic brightness, blue-light filters, eye-comfort modes, and similar features.
  • Disable vivid, dynamic, or automatic picture-enhancement modes.
  • Use your usual neutral or standard display mode.
  • Set the brightness to a comfortable, moderate level and keep it unchanged throughout the review.
  • Avoid reviewing at maximum brightness or on an excessively dim display.

For the most consistent results, use the same device, display settings, and viewing conditions for every review round.

Viewing Environment

Review the image in a dimly lit room whenever possible.

Avoid direct light falling on the display and minimize reflections on the screen. Neutral ambient lighting is preferable, as strongly colored light can affect the way you perceive color.
